Take a Brake and Clean the Dust Off your Wheels
Cleaning the brake dust off your wheels is the second most important thing you can do for your vehicle's exterior (the first is keeping your paint finish clean). As a matter of fact, it may be The most important thing, because you should probably do it at least once a week! Why, you ask? Well, brake dust is extremely corrosive; and, with most of today's wheels being clear coated (just like your paint's finish), failure to clean the brake dust off your wheels will result in damaging the wheel's finish. Have you ever noticed on an older vehicle the discoloration or pitting on the wheels? That's the effect of brake dust!
Once a week, spray some Simple Green on your wheels and agitate them with a clear coat safe brush, and then rinse them off. The whole process only takes about five minutes. If you keep up this practice weekly, it can save you a lot of time and expense down the road.
If you find that your wheels' clear coat has been etched and/or is discolored, send us a photo of the wheel to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to provide you with an estimate on refinishing your wheels.
